Residents of Madison Park gathered today to celebrate a new historical marker at the former Madison Park School.

Current and former residents have been working to get a historical marker at the school building for years. The community was founded by former slices and the school holds significance as the first school in the area for African Americans.

The president of the *Madison Park Community Re-Union Organization* says the marker is an important step in preserving their history.  [TAKE :SOT]
